TORU 5.5 General

Intended use

Notice!

The A-weighted emission sound pressure level of the robot is less than 70 dB(A).

The intended use is limited exclusively to the information in these operating instructions. Any use that deviates from the information in these operating instructions is considered improper use and can lead to the loss of the operating permit.

Intended use is defined as:

  • Operation in a picking warehouse.

  • Autonomous driving at safe and fast speeds.

  • Autonomous gripping, buffering and depositing of defined objects.

  • Manual pushing of the robot, with emergency stop button activated, in a hazardous situation.

  • Manual movement of the robot, column and gripper, with the emergency stop button activated, to remedy a malfunction.

  • Operation, maintenance, and servicing by authorized personnel.

Unintended use shall be deemed to include, but not be limited to:

  • Operation with deactivated or dismantled protective devices or housing parts.

  • Operation outside an order picking warehouse.

  • Operation on platforms that are not adequately secured by railings to prevent the robot from falling.

  • Operation near stairs, ramps, and pits that are not adequately secured against the robot falling.

  • Operation on floors that do not meet the requirements for safe operation.

  • Operation in an area subject to explosion hazards.

  • Transporting people and animals.

  • Operation, maintenance, and servicing by unauthorized personnel.

  • Modifications of any kind, to software and hardware, that have not been approved in writing by the manufacturer.

  • Manual work on the robot without activating the emergency stop button.

Operating conditions

The robot drives autonomously in the picking warehouse. Autonomous driving places special demands on the operating conditions.
The floor must have at least the following properties:

  • Free from obstructions and impurities.

  • Complies with the necessary VDMA guidelines.

  • Has sufficient load-bearing capacity for operation of the robot.

  • Level, horizontal, and uniform according to DIN 18202 and DIN 15185.

  • Mechanically resistant to abrasion.

  • Mechanically resistant to deformation.

Warning!

Danger of accident! The robot has no possibility to check the soil conditions. In case of changed soil conditions, an adjustment of the performance by the manufacturer may be necessary.Make sure that the soil conditions do not change significantly.

In case of doubt, contact the manufacturer and inform him about the changed soil conditions.

The working environment of the robot must have the following characteristics:

Average ambient temperature, continuous operation: +22 °C.

Maximum ambient temperature, short-term (up to 1 h): +35 °C.

Lowest ambient temperature: +15 °C.

Maximum humidity: 95%, non-condensing.

Altitude: up to 2 000 m.

Requirements for the operator

The robot has been designed according to the state of the art to ensure maximum safety. However, in addition to a safe design, the decisive factor for safe operation is also compliance with basic regulations and behavior that must be communicated and observed by the operator. The operator is any natural or legal person on whose behalf the robot is used.

Requirements for the operator are:

  • Regular documented training of personnel who come into contact with the robot.

  • Compliance with accident prevention regulations.

  • Keeping the robot and its working area clean according to the instructions given in the manual.

  • Ensuring that the robot is used exclusively for its intended purpose.

  • Ensuring that personnel who come into contact with the robot have read and understood the robot operating manual.

Authorized personnel

To be able to use the robot as intended, the personnel must meet certain requirements. The requirements differ according to the different groups of people who are assigned by the operator to perform work on the robot.

Personnel of the operator

Trained personnel:

  • Assigned by the operator to work next to and with the robot.

  • Able to work alongside and with the robot without creating additional hazards.

  • Regularly and demonstrably trained in handling the robot.

  • Able to assess the risks of working next to and with the robot based on instruction and experience.

Maintenance personnel:

Maintenance personnel meet the same requirements as trained personnel, and beyond:

  • Sufficient qualifications and experience to independently identify hazards in servicing and maintaining the robot.

  • Regularly and demonstrably trained in maintenance and servicing of the robot.

Manufacturer's personnel

Service personnel:

Special personnel authorized by the manufacturer to service the robot.
