Notice for the safe handling of batteries
Notices regarding transport:
Lithium batteries are dangerous goods. They are therefore subject to the dangerous goods regulations.
Lithium batteries are classified in ADR (road) / RID (rail) 2021 as dangerous goods of class 9 (miscellaneous dangerous substances and articles).
They should / must be marked as such and the packaging regulations must be observed.
Only demonstrably instructed people may be involved in the transport.
Defective batteries may only be transported by certified specialist companies: - Here a distinction must be made whether the battery is simply used up or – according to ADR SV 376 damaged (physical damage, acute danger, etc.).
The batteries meet the international transport test, UN 38.3.e
Storage notices:
The storage of lithium batteries is currently not subject to any legal requirements. It is therefore up to each company to determine and implement suitable measures. In addition to general manufacturer information, which, however, usually, only refers to storage temperatures, there is a leaflet from the Association of Loss Insurers.
The storage location should be suitable for storing batteries (hazardous goods).
Notice for mounting:
The system integrator, where the installation takes place, is responsible for the safe installation of batteries in an overall system. Safety requirements during installation cannot be considered isolated from the overall system.
Lithium batteries may only be installed upright or lying on their sides. Under no circumstances may they be installed upside down.
When installing the modules, ensure that they are held securely.
Never short-circuit batteries! High short-circuit currents may result.
Before installation, please observe the safety instructions in the operating manual and the battery specification of the manufacturer.
Batteries may only be connected with suitable screws and plugs.
Make sure that the polarity is correct.
Notice for operation:
Batteries may only be charged with the charger supplied.
During use, the limits set by the manufacturer in the product specification must be observed. Current, voltage, and temperature limits in particular must be observed.
If these limits are exceeded to a very extreme degree, the batteries may become defective.
Only batteries and modules of the same type may be installed together.
Short-circuiting of the batteries must be avoided by suitable insulation of the poles.
Charge the battery fully regularly and allow the battery management system (BMS) to balance the cells.
Maintenance notice:
Lithium batteries are basically maintenance-free.
The prescribed annual inspection must be carried out by trained specialists. The currently still valid accident prevention regulation “Industrial trucks” (BGV D27) requires in § 37 para. 1 an inspection of industrial trucks (including AGVs) at intervals of no more than one year.
LFP batteries have a relatively long service life compared to other battery technologies, irrespective of the states of charge and power levels used.
Disposal notice:
Li-Ion batteries contain metals such as copper, aluminum and, as active materials, the transition metals cobalt and nickel.
Since 1998, the Battery Ordinance obliges, among other things, all dealers and manufacturers to take back batteries and recycle them properly or dispose of them as hazardous waste.
A new battery law was passed on January 1, 2021, which will come into full force on January 1, 2022. Exact changes to the old regulation have yet to be determined.

Specific hazards associated with recycling lithium-ion batteries include electrical, chemical and fire hazards.
Recycling and transport of batteries may only be carried out by certified specialist companies.

The warning signs are placed near the danger area and indicate the residual dangers during normal operation. The warning signs must be placed in the designated location.

Safety
Safety concept
The safety concept of the robot ensures safe, autonomous operation. By using safety components with a safety controller, the robot decides whether the conditions for safe operation are met and whether it can safely interact with the picking rack.

1) Emergency stop button, 2) Safety laser scanner, 3) Bumper
Emergency stop buttons (1): Stop and prevent any hazardous movement of the robot immediately when actuated. They serve to prevent hazards and enable safe working on the robot.
Safety laser scanners (2): Create a protective area around the robot. If the safety zone is violated, the robot may only travel at the safe speed.
Bumpers (3): Stop the robot immediately in the event of a collision with a solid object. They are placed around the robot and are designed to stop the robot from safe speed without posing a risk to people.
