TORU Release 2023-05

This release includes new features and improvements that make TORU easier to use and more efficient.

TORU's lights now indicate its operational status

TORU's lights have been updated with new light signals that indicate its operational status. Dim red lights now indicate normal operation, while bright red flashes indicate an error. This makes it quick and easy to see the status of TORU in live operation, even from a distance.

New ARC notifications give you a better overview of your warehouse operations

New notifications have been added to ARC to help you keep track of all operational changes. Starting today, you will receive operational announcements when a robot is scheduled to be taken out of commission. These notifications will provide you with a better overview of what is happening in the background, so you can make informed decisions about your warehouse operations.

TORU's perception algorithm now checks surface for box placement

TORU's perception algorithm now includes a shelf support check before releasing a box. This ensures the safe handling of goods, even if the intended placement surface is missing.

In the original version, TORU placed the boxes on the designated surface according to the WMS specification. However, this could lead to boxes falling if the placement surface was not present.

The updated perception algorithm uses the camera to check whether the designated placement surface is present before releasing a box. This prevents dropped boxes and ensures the safe handling of goods.
